Principal’s Update #4 Term 2

The dry weather has come to a halt in dramatic fashion with some massive falls of rain this week. Luckily, we have still managed to get out during the breaks in the weather. This will become our new reality as we enter the winter months officially tomorrow. Term 2 is always very busy, I know teachers are beginning to finalise grades for Semester 1 in preparation for reporting to parents. I hope that everyone in our community will enjoy a relaxing long weekend with family and friends. I look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday.

Kindy Open Day – Thursday 6 June
This Thursday we have our Kindy Open Day for all new and perspective students beginning in 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and students to get a taste of kindy life, get to know some future friends and meet with our amazing teachers and educational assistants. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions that you have in relation to preparing your child for school. Kindy enrolments are now open, please get your applications in ASAP to avoid missing a space.

Interschool Basketball
Last Thursday, Year 5/6 students competed in the interschool basketball competition. From all reports it was a terrific day full of great sportsmanship and exemplary behaviour. Whilst the results didn’t all go our way, the experience and pride that students demonstrated was exceptional. I want to thank Mr Grace, Mr Donohue and Mr Hall-Butson for coaching the teams in the lead up and on the day.

Camp
Year 6 students will attend their four day camp to Woodman’s Point from Tuesday. This camp is always a highlight for both students and staff every year. Student’s have the opportunity to participate in a number of activities such as zip lining, abseiling, archery, orienteering and mountain bike riding. Camp also brings the students together and strengthens their relationships with their peers and teachers. Mrs Aim, Mrs Higgins and I look forward to coming along at certain times to enjoy the experience as well. Fingers crossed the weather is kind to us and we stay dry.

School Early Closure – 20 June
We have received approval from the Department of Education to close at 11:45am on Thursday 20 June 2024. The reason for the early closure is for parent/teacher meetings to happen in the afternoon and early evening. During these sessions you will book a time to discuss your child’s grades 1 on 1 with the classroom teacher and gain more insight into how they are achieving and what the next steps are. This was discussed with the School Board and received endorsement to trial this year.

Winter Uniforms
Can you please ensure that your children wear school jackets and jumpers? Our new designs look fantastic and promote the school in a positive light. If you don’t have a school jacket or jumper please send your child in a plain blue one without name brands etc.
