Principal’s Update #1 Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3! The first two weeks at Kelmscott Primary have been incredibly busy, and filled with excitement and activity. I have thoroughly enjoyed greeting all the students at the gates and hearing about their holiday adventures. It’s a privilege to start this term as your new principal, and I am looking forward to all the wonderful experiences and achievements that lie ahead.

Wellbeing Incursion

Last week, we launched our Wellbeing Incursions, a series of workshops aimed at nurturing the mental and emotional well-being of our students. These workshops focus on important messages such as “Focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t” and “Never ever give up.” The theme for this term is Self-Control, emphasising the importance of taking responsibility for our choices and actions.

The students have been enthusiastic participants, engaging in activities that encourage positive thinking and resilience. The feedback from the workshops has been overwhelmingly positive, with many students expressing how much they enjoy and benefit from these sessions. We are committed to fostering a supportive and empowering environment for all our students.

Farewell Mr Bushe-Jones

This Wednesday, we bid farewell to Mr Bushe-Jones, who has taken up the position of Principal at Aubin Grove Primary School. It was a touching moment as the students expressed their affection and appreciation for Mr Bushe-Jones, who has been an integral part of our community. His dedication and commitment have left a lasting impact on all of us. We wish him the very best in his new role and future endeavours.

Cross Country Carnival

Yesterday, we held the much-anticipated KPS Cross Country Carnival. Despite the forecast predicting minimal rain, the weather surprised us with quite the downpour. Nevertheless, our students showcased incredible determination and spirit, completing the track with enthusiasm and resilience. The joy and excitement were palpable, with many students even asking if they could run in the rain again next year!

We are immensely proud of all our participants, who truly embodied the spirit of perseverance and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all our winners, and a special thanks to Mr D for his tireless efforts in organizing the event. We look forward to the Interschool Cross Country event in Week 4, where our students will undoubtedly continue to shine.

KPS School Board

The KPS School Board, comprising parents, staff, and community members, plays a crucial role in the governance of our school. Meeting 1-2 times a term, the Board discusses various aspects of school life, including academic data, school approaches, and our Business Plan. Our Board Chair, Mr Daniel Attewell, frequently liaises with the parents on the Board to ensure a collaborative approach to our school's development.

We have a meeting scheduled for next Tuesday at 4pm, and I encourage anyone interested in learning more about the Board to attend. We will have some vacancies this year, providing an excellent opportunity for you to get involved. For more information, please feel free to email me at Jade.Aim@education.wa.edu.au.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school community. I look forward to a fantastic term ahead filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences.

Until next time, keep learning and exploring!
